My Journey in Creating Journey Beyond Barriers Nonprofit

Introduction: In a world where kindness and compassion matter most, I embarked on a mission to create positive change. Journey Beyond Barriers nonprofit was born from my passion for helping others and spending quality time with friends and family that have mobility issues. This blog shares my journey – twists, turns, and triumphs – from idea to launch.

My Journey So Far:

1. Idea Sparked: I have had a friend for 13 years; she is a double Amputee and the trials we have had to get her to enjoy functions with us was eye opening. I Shared my vision of getting a bus and helping others like her with the rest of my family, they all have supported me entirely.

2. Research Phase: I explored nonprofit guidelines and have taken some classes on setting up a business. Researched insurance options, and business plan creating. This took about 2 to 3 months to get enough information to feel confident taking the next steps

3. Business Entity Created: I Established Journey Beyond Barriers as a separate entity. Registered the company with the state. This process can take up to 6 months! While I am waiting on that I have created a business plan, a rough draft of a budget, and created an email address and webpage for it.

4. 503c Status Pursuit: Scheduled appointment to file for tax-exempt status. This process can also take some time. Until this step is done, I cannot start looking for grants and funds.

5. Business Plan Development: In the meantime, I have signed up with a mentor from SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) Collaborating with an expert to create strategic roadmap. and learn all about Insurance and liabilities

6. Bank Account Opened: I have Selected Key Bank for the nonprofit finances. they are an amazing bank that is owned by Americans and partnered up with a Canadian Bank. It feels good to be keeping my money here in my country. :)

7. Insurance Solution research: I am looking at insurance for the company and for the bus that we will be driving, I think The Hartford Looks like the best bet for comprehensive coverage, but I will do some more research.

8. Family Support: This will be a complete family venture. I will not be able to do it all on my own. I have so many people supporting me I know we will succeed.

Conclusion: Journey Beyond Barriers is becoming a reality – a symbol of hope, kindness, and collective positive change. Stay tuned for updates on our progress!
